The Kingswood Hotel is family run, fully licensed residential

with extensive car parking and a large garden. The bar always has a selection
of both local and national beers, a friendly atmosphere
and is open to both residents and non residents throughout the year.
Every Sunday roast carvery is served
in our restaurant.
There is a full and varied menu which includes full English breakfast,
an extensive lunch and evening menu featuring snacks, fish, roasts and
steaks.
All our rooms have private bathrooms and are decorated to the highest
standards. They have colour TV, hospitality tray for hot drinks and hair
driers.
An ironing board is available for guests use and a laundry service by
arrangement.
We are proud of our room service which will provide clean towels every
day.
The hotel has been refurbished inside and out including the
gardens which again won prizes in the local Britain in bloom contest.
Originally built in the early 1800`s it was the home
of the Surgeon commander of the naval base at Portland. The grounds then
went all the way down to the waters edge. It first became a Hotel in 1930
getting its first drinks licence in 1951. During the second World War
the Kingswood was commandeered and used to house the American armed forces.
